The task of any court becomes quite difficult in such a situation as it has to give effect to the statute under consideration and therefore Pepper v. Hart can be seen as one attempt of the Court to solve challenges and the difficult tasks of court in various situations on legislation. The Jury has the essential responsibility of decoding statutes. Management Accounting - Assignment Example Economists and accountants imply that two diverse fields in terms of cost and variance analysis. Therefore, when economists describe cost through variance analysis and standard costing, they include the sacrifice of opportunities and important choices. From an accountantââ¬â¢s perception, standard costing and traditional budgeting are prospective, subjective, and occasionally costs-evaded. The following paper will look into the alleged advantages, and demerits of standard costing, variance analysis and traditional budgeting in management accounting (Callahan, Stetz, andà Brooks, 2011, p. 199). Certain criticisms of traditional budgeting arise from the descriptions of the significant terminologies used by economists and accountants in the government and organizations (Emmanuel, Kominis and Slapnicar, 2008, p. 2). Time management is the establishment of interceding variables that improve the perception of time. A budget is an estimated total cost or income for an operation or activity covering a particular period. This way, accounting managers are able to ease pressure on their behaviors and perceive control over time and operations assumed significant in variance analysis (Emmanuel, Kominis and Slapnicar, 2008, p. 3). A budget can also be an arrangement for the management and control of assets and expenses. Benthams utilitarian principle Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Benthams utilitarian principle - Essay Example Based on these theories, societies, along with its member, behaves according to what they thought is applicable and appropriate. Happiness and pleasure against sorrow and pain controls every individual, thus behave according to the amount these opposing nature with the risk of the consequences that their action entails. This utilitarianism principle is what is thought to have governed the world as proposed by Jeremy Bentham. At present, Benthamââ¬â¢s (1781) utilitarian principle is considered as the most appropriate and the most modern among other ethical principles in the society. He regards pain and pleasure as the ââ¬Å"sovereign mastersâ⬠that control the world. Everyoneââ¬â¢s action follows the principle of utility as each person may or may not identify oneââ¬â¢s act as one that conforms to the society or not. Experiencing pain and pleasure allows humans to identify the things that they ought to do as well as what they shall do. Being able to identify the actions that are appropriate in the society allows individuals to identify what is right or moral. Furthermore, such actions that are seen to be good and beneficial to a large number of people in the community are then considered to be morally acceptable. On the other hand, when an action is seen to inflict pain and is not pleasing to a majority, it is therefore disapproved and regarded as an immoral act. This idea applies to actions that are considered to be ââ¬Å"for the greater good.â⬠... Any conduct that that affects a greater number of people in the society should not be implemented and considered unjust. In a given circumstance though, where the conduct affects a small number of people negatively, the community should assume the responsibility of its adverse effects. (role of the government) Right is then associated by the feelings of pleasure, while wrong is associated with pain. These two sensations that every member of the society feels can be quantified, therefore, pleasure in its great amount is deemed best for humanity. Greater pain, on the other hand, is unacceptable in the society, and thus regarded as a violation of the laws set by man and the system that is implementing them. On the other hand, motives play an important role in identifying what is thought to be right and wrong for the community. The principle that is adverse of utility introduces the ideas of asceticism, and sympathy and apathy. Such instances when even an action that offers the least amo unt of happiness or pleasure may be approved by the community. This inverse utilitarian principle recognizes the value of the action even when it does not provide a greater amount of happiness on the condition that it is advantageous for a greater number of people. As Bentham (1781) pointed out, the difference in motives between hope and fear draws down to the same principle that is associated to asceticism. While hope may elicit anticipation for something that is good in the future, fear inhibits a person to do something immoral in order to avoid punishment in the future. Both feelings fall down to preventing the members of the society, no matter which group they belong to,

Final project - intellectual property ( the ethical implications of Essay
Final project - intellectual property ( the ethical implications of file sharing ) - Essay Example Thus, the computers that are used to share the information and files are called ââ¬Ëpeersââ¬â¢ as they do the functions of both; retrieve information and store it. Although this type of sharing was introduced by the technology so that it could help the users to share their digital files such as photos, documents etc, and was thus not initially known to be anything illegal or unethical, there is evidence seen of unauthorized sharing of the data which is copyrighted. This unauthorized and unethical file sharing is what has contributed towards the file sharing controversies in the recent past. This may also become an issue of piracy and infringement of rights as the legal owner of the copyright is not benefitting from the file sharing. However, without clear definition of infringement rights from the file owner, it becomes quite a daunting task to classify file sharing as ethical or ethically wrong. Initially when the idea of the file sharing was introduced, the technologists had not thought about the impact that it would have on the society. In the present day when the practise has become so common, it can be analyzed that it comes to the people with good and bad aspects. At many places technology provides ease and at the same time takes away much. In this way, the popularity of the file transferring had allowed many users to use it for personal data transfers to reduce the time taken but on the other hand, it entered many controversies and thus adverse impacts for the society which included unethical effects too. The impact of the file sharing in the society is used as the best example for the ethical judgment of the file sharing practise (Lucibella 32). Piracy occurs when illegal file sharing takes place along with the illegal downloading associated with the internet. The internet piracy is considered to be dangerous and is illegal. Out of the many, file

Discuss the link between the current account and changes in a countrys Essay
Discuss the link between the current account and changes in a countrys net foreign wealth - Essay Example Factor Income is the return or income of a particular asset an example of which are the income derived from land or the rent paid by its occupant. Net Transfer Payment is the liability of the government in financing its operation or the difference between the required payments needed to finance social services or other similar government function and the availability of funds coming from the income of the government. Before giving illustrations and meaning to each of the economic phrases, it is imperative to state that the link between the two sides of the equation reflects the Balance of Payments of a country. The Balance of Payment is the record of all the fiscal transaction of a nation with the rest of the world. Balance of Payments ideally should always be zero to ensure that nations are not spending beyond their means or on the opposite side, not hoarding its fiscal resources that could lead to a regional or global financial crisis. Spending beyond a countryââ¬â¢s means could result to increasing its local or external debts which would counter-act or zero out its Balance of Payments. An unchecked increase in external and local loans could result to an economic collapse starting with its monetary system after a short duration spiral. The domino-effect would then ensue, affecting inflation for consumer items, interest rates for banks, closure of manufacturing plants dependent on imported raw materials that lead to the loss of jobs. Hoarding, on the other hand, results to the shortage of the amount of money being circulated in the global or regional economy. Since the US dollar is considered as the de facto international currency, the absence of the dollar in international circulation could lead to the collapse of some economy due to the spiralling devaluation of its monetary system against the dollar. The absence of available money for institutional short term loans from international sources could prompt government to look inward to finance its US dollar requirements. The absence of money in circulation on a regional or global economy would result to government controlled banks to lower their interest rates. Rational Expectation Theory would then dictate the momentum. Lower interest rates from government controlled banks translate to lower income for money in the bank which will lead to the exodus of money from the banks to high yield instruments such as bonds and government loans. On the other hand, a Balance of Payment from all countries is indicative of a progressive and healthy world economy. In essence, the amount of goods produced is equal to the goods required by the market, the amount of money in circulation needed to purchase the goods are in the hands of the population transacting for the goods. Net Foreign Asset ââ¬â as articulated earlierââ¬âis the net asset of a country abroad. This would include the assets of its industries offshore or overseas that earn revenues that will redound to the benefit of the country in general and the countryââ¬â¢s citizen in particular. To illustrate: The United States although has a much publicized deficit that runs into billions of dollars has a substantial holding in other countries that earns for it some revenue to maintain its Balance of Payment. Resolving the value of these investments abroad to current valuation enables it to achieve Balance of Paymen
